May 25, 2015: Sorrento/Rome

I woke up about 11:30 pm very sick to my stomach.  After that, I was up about every single hour vomiting.  At 4 am I had awakened Steve and asked him to go down to the lobby at 4:30 to see if the tour director had anything for upset stomach.

The first groups taking off for the Naples airport were leaving at 4:30 and Brad had said he'd be there to make sure they got off.  Brad even came up to the room to check on me and checked me for temperature and heart rate.  I was doing okay; just nauseous!

He suggested a hot bath/shower.  For breakfast, I should have mint tea for breakfast and melba toast only.

I followed his advice and thankfully the vomiting had stopped so we were ready to leave at 7:30 as scheduled (bags out at 6:45 am).

The bus ride to Rome was about 1/2 full.  I bought Saltines at the stop with and had water with it for my mid-morning snack.

Most of us were staying extra day or more but we did drop 5 off at the Rome airport and then another four at the Airport Hilton before heading to the Romanico Palace.
The man with umbrella fountain is by Folon.  You can also see the statue of Da Vinci in the background at the Rome Airport.
We got there and thankfully had our rooms ready (thanks to Brad calling ahead).

The hotel decor is very over the top in baroque style (I think) but it had all the modern conveniences and was very comfortable.

The best shower we had in Italy

The ever present Bidet
I went to bed right away and slept for about 3 hours.  Steve got me soup at a nearby restaurant for dinner with ginger ale from the hotel bar.  He went out and found some pasta for his dinner.

I was really glad we had an extra day with nothing scheduled for me to recover.

Brad had highlighted our route (upon request) on the complimentary maps provided by Insight Vacations.  We'd done a lot of traveling in the past 10 days!

  2. Sharon, you won't regret it as long as you avoid the mussels. :)
